Lesbian couple battered and tortured toddler to death
A mother and her civil partner have been convicted of murdering her two-year-old son before trying to pin the blame on another child.

Toddler Liam Fee was found dead at his home near Glenrothes in Fife in March 2014, having suffered a ruptured heart as a result of severe blunt force trauma to his body.

His mother, Rachel Fee, 31, and her partner Nyomi Fee, 29, had denied killing the child but were convicted of his murder following a seven-week trial at the High Court in Livingston.

The court heard that Liam suffered heart injuries similar to those found on road crash victims after receiving blows to his chest and abdomen.

The pathologist who examined his body also found more than 30 external injuries on the toddler's body and fractures to the boy's upper arm and thigh.
The couple claimed another young boy, who cannot be identified because of his age, was responsible for Liam's death.

The women, originally of Ryton, Tyne and Wear, were today also found guilty of a catalogue of abuse against two other young boys.
In addition to the murder charge, they were found guilty of assaulting Liam over a period of more than two years prior to his death.
And they were convicted of ill-treating and neglecting him from January 2012 onwards by leaving him for prolonged periods of time, failing to provide him with adequate exercise and mental stimulation and - in the days leading up to his death - failing to get him proper medical attention for a broken leg and a fractured arm.

Nothing you have said has any relationship with reality. While many people with psychosis are still intractable, the vast majority of people with schizophrenia or affective disorders are treated with medication and social management and continue to live in the community. Most of these people would have been incacerated in the big Victorian bins which have all been emptied since the fifties thanks to the success of anti-psychotic medication and mood stabilisers.

if a same sex couple decide to have a baby (through surrogacy), is there a vetting process they have to go through? or can you literally hand your baby over to anyone??

OGN, among the horror stories my mate's told me about her workplaces, one that's stuck out for me was the "activity rooms" or whatever in nuthouses and assorted institutions being like primary school level. Making pictures out of dried macaroni and finger painting etc.

This may be a great way to manage some mental illnesses, but more often than not she deals with adults who have been pushed over the edge by drink/drugs/abuse/stress and treating them like kids isn't gonna help.

Is this anything like your experience?

Don't get me wrong though before anyone starts, the NHS are brilliant and I'm grateful for them and I'm sure not everywhere is like the above, and I'm far from one of them Sun reading cunts who enjoys having a pop at the public sector for bantz.

Humans have no idea how their minds are created, no idea how they work and no idea why they go wrong. There are no reliable cures for mental illnesses. Currently rates of spontaneous remission outstrip all medical and talking cures.

Stuff like lithium works on bi-polar people but in the same way as strapping someone to a bed will make sure they never suffer a fall.

Mental illness is managed, sometimes well but mostly badly, but never treated or cured. Because the subjects of disease, the mind and consciousness are not understood.

It's like trying fix a broken leg without having no knowledge or understanding of bones.

That is easily the biggest load of bollocks I've seen on this site in a long time.

What would you spend the money on? Nobody really knows what causes mental illness and their are literally no treatments that work better than placebo.

Someone describe the state of mental health services, and knowledge, as like that of medical services before the germ theory of disease.

The LGBT community is over-represented in social work and social services. Men are under-represented and actively discouraged from getting involved except at higher management levels.

In my experience the LGBT bring with them a toxic siege mentality and the men massively over estimate their abilities and skills. it makes for dysfunctional teams that spend most of their time looking inward and defending practices that are 50 years out of date. Increased funding wouldn't help.

Poverty is nearly gone but the poor still exist and they are a fantastic source of income for a huge chunk of the middle class.

The poor are expensive but tolerated because they keep a huge number of people in work. It's dressed up as concern, and probably is concern, but self interest and vanity play a huge part in the working practices of most social services (in the broad sense of that field) departments.

If we put some money back into mental health, we probably wouldn't need to spend so much on social services.

I was listening to a program on they radio today and they were talking to a Danish minister. I couldn't believe how seriously they take mental health, probably as seriously as physical health.

Re: Lesbian couple battered and tortured toddler to death
Sadly social services are at breaking point. The number of child protection referrals and referral for assessments have rocketed over the last decade or so.
The increased awareness of child protection (and change in government guidelines and the law) means that multiple agencies now refer things that they wouldn't have bothered with years ago (partly in order to cover their own backs).
This in itself is not a problem, but social services
a) don't have the resources to deal with the number of referrals adequately
b) are struggling to separate the serious cases from the noise.

Whether there's also been an increase in neglect etc.... who knows? Pretty sure it was around a lot 30 years ago too. But our awareness and eagerness to deal with it has certainly increased.

All a tragic mess.

This morning I watched on BBC 1 someone who is at the top of Social services in Scotland, she was a cold robot like bint who showed absolutely no compassion toward the poor boy who was beaten to death, and was only interested in defending Social services saying that she would not accept any mistakes were made until things were properly Investigated.
Humanity can be a cold place, but that woman to me showed where humanity is being manipulated to distance itself from tragedy even if the tragedy has happened to a tiny toddler.

Re: Lesbian couple battered and tortured toddler to death
My wife having raised 2 children was trying to get into social services thinking she had something to offer. Unfortunately they take young girls with degrees from various backgrounds. I've always thought that some of these nasty fuckers can intimidate these young social workers or get round them somehow. I know that if my wife knocked on the door checking about the well being of a young kid she wouldn't be palmed off by stories from some of these people like some social workers who seem to be prevented from checking on these kids for months for some reason or another.

Saul, think my stereotypes were relating more to management and people higher up than people at ground level who do the dirty work, who IMO are doing one of the most important and tough jobs I can even conceive.

Re: Lesbian couple battered and tortured toddler to death
I have worked beside social workers in various teams and none of them have been lesbians or aging hippies. Most do a very good job under very difficult circumstances. When things go wrong like this, they are scapegoats and when they take kids into care they are portrayed as callous. They only come on to the front pages when things go wrong and get the blame when not their fault. Any silly sod can sit on an inquiry and see what people should have done in retrospect.

You can not prevent this kind psychopath from carrying out this type of crime.

ogn

Good mate of mine is a social worker and says much the same. Her bosses are generally (paraphrasing her) lesbians who have no idea what they're doing or old age hippies who mean well but haven't been "in the field" for decades. She's not even 30 and already looking at a career change, not cos she can't stomach the work side of it but cos nothing ever gets done coz of the inadequacy of management. Some stories I've heard I'm honestly surprised that we don't get cases like this every day.
